Welcome to The Disaster Shop! Our first goal is to educate and to inform those who visit our site about disasters and being prepared properly for them.
It isn’t Rocket Science and the proper methods are tried and tested.
We are practitioners. That is, we have been in and through every type of disaster from natural to man made for over 18 years. This includes Hurricane Katrina.
Working for FEMA and SBA disaster assistance programs and now for a national grocery chain planning effort, has given the head of The Disaster Shop insight into both the public sector response and recovery methods as well as private business and personal response and recovery methods.
At SBA and FEMA, we put home owners and businesses back together again. We have seen all sizes of businesses intimately and know what works and what doesn’t work. We have seen individual home owners in various degrees of preparedness from zero to incredible preparedness.
The choice to be prepared is yours. You must first believe that there is a potential for a disaster and a potential that you will suffer more than you should due to a lack of effort on your part prior to the disaster. This is brought home when we see children suffering due to their parents total disregard for their safety, security and preparedness for a disaster.
We have seen it thousands of times – we aim to help you not fall into the “unprepared” and potentially dangerous category.
